Happy 6 month Anniversary.....

In Light of the fact that today is mine and Justin’s 6 month wedding anniversary, I figured I would give some of the details of our wedding day……

The night before we didn’t really do much, the girls came to my room and we had some drinks and that was really the extent of it. Justin and his boys went out and had a good time- I suppose lol. I left him a note in our bathroom so he could see it when he got back to the room.

Saturday morning, we got up and all my bridesmaids met up for a “bridal breakfast” at a nearby hotel. We were all looking really cute lol NOT! Then we went back to Dara’s room to meet the “hair lady- Maggie” and start getting everyone ready.

I can’t remember who went first but Jamie had gotten hers done and came to me and asked me for the preacher’s name and number so she could call and confirm with him all the details- me thinking she was just being the Maitron of Honor and doing her “duties” gave her the number and she went outside. Then came back in and asked Kelly to come with her to get some cokes and junk out of her room….

I was getting irritated because two of my 5 bridesmaids were gone, I went out onto the balcony and saw them running around by the pool and then over to the Tiki Bar, I was like thinking………WHAT THE HECK! They are supposed to be in here with me keeping me calm not running all over the hotel gahhh. So I went in the bathroom where becky was getting her hair done and asked her if she knew what was going on and she was like “no I dunno what they are doin” (she’s not a good liar either) so I was getting more and more worried by now. … did they know something I didn’t….was justin MIA?....did the preacher bail?..... freak out mode was starting to set in…… and the one person in the world that can calm me quicker than any other is Justin- and I am not allowed to talk to him!

Then they returned and I was kind of giving them the cold shoulder. ( my mama had arrived by then ) And Jamie noticed my mom was there and said “oh good, im glad you are here”…….the fear began to rise…….then she proceeded “ You can’t get married on the beach………”

Me “WHAT? WHY? WHO SAID THAT?”
Jamie” B/c it is illegal inside city limits of Myrtle Beach…”
ME” Says who?”
Jamie”Everyone, the front desk staff, Maggie, your preacher…”
Me” my preacher? I just talked to him Thursday morning and walked down to the beach and he said everything was fine”….tears are now welling up

Then Maggie “the hair lady” came out of the bathroom and said “She’s right, inside city limits it is illegal unless you have a permit. If the beach patrol catches you they will stop the ceremony and fine you at least $500 and make you leave.”

Me: DEVISTATION

Me “jamie, what did the preacher man say when you talked to him?”
Jamie” he said that what Maggie just said was true but that if we got caught he was just planning to tell them he was a family friend”
ME ”WHAT?” Sheer panic
Jamie” but don’t worry I’ve already talked to justin and his dad and we are working on a few things”
Me” are you sure he’s coming?”
Jamie” he said “”I don’t care where it is, I just want to marry her””
Me – some relief

Jamie” there is the Myrtle beach state park that is supposedly pretty and not very far and you could get married there legally.”
Me : well then let’s go check it out”

( Jamie called my preacher man to let him know we were going to look at the state park and that the ceremony might be there instead – he was annoyed)

So my mama, me and Jamie loaded up in the car and rode over to the state park…all the while it is getting later and later and later in the day. we get to this place and the line to get in ( in cars) took 30 minutes! We drove around and looked for a spot and all we saw was sees of people that were there for family reunions. I swear there was probably about 7 different colored T-shirts for the family reunions happening that day…..again…the panic. And anger now.

Finally we found this really cool big ole tree and thought ok I guess that would have to do b/c the beach portion was pretty full of people and a pretty good walk from where you had to park and the park was really big and a good possibility that people would get lost.

We drive back and Maggie says ” I actually have the number to a chapel that we have connections with in North Myrtle Beach and can still do the wedding on the beach for you, do you want the number?”
Me “yes of course”

( so Maggie called the other preacher man, while I had Jamie call the old preacher man and FIRED his butt!! All while my mama had run up to her room for a moment )

When mama returned she came baring gifts. TEQUILLA and two shot glasses to be exact. She poured her and I one, I drank it- and felt minutely better for the moment. Keep in mind it’s about 4:00, I was no way shape ready to be getting married. Still no make-up, crazy hair, clothes not changed, and a little stinky from running around.

Situation RESOLVED. The chapel man – from Maggie- worked out perfectly. He would marry us at 6:30 on North Myrtle Beach. And it would us an extra $100 but WHATEVER at this point.

It is now about 4:20 and this place is now 20/30 minutes away instead of just walking out of the hotel. So I had to get moving PRONTO. Sat down with Maggie with a sigh of relief, everyone else starting doing their make-up and getting dressed and everything calmed down. all of my girls had made fun of me about my “binder” this binder contained EVERYTHING wedding related. From phone numbers to addresses to colors- EvERYTHING.
Jamie said “Chrisy, I hate to do this but……..i need your binder” !!!!HA

So I gave her my binder, she called all major families involved and gave them directions and time to be there and then they passed on the info to everyone else.

THANK GOD.

We got to the location, everyone was there and waiting on me. Amazing. The place was beautiful, quiet, there was hardly anyone around. ( Not like at our hotel) the sky was the most gorgeous colors, the sand was soft and there were these amazing dunes, the colors of the girls dresses and guys shirts stood out perfectly with the sky. My family had made the heart on the beach with the flowers. Everything was done. It was time.

My dad was waiting for me, my heart was pounding, I was so scared he wouldn’t be there. I don’t know why- there would be no reason for him to chicken out but maybe every bride feels that way. I walked onto the stair case for the board walk with my dad, all the bridesmaid and groomsman had already headed down to the spot on the beach. Every step I took I could feel myself holding my breath waiting to make sure he was there……

And then….there he was, his back turned to me so he could have a surprise when he saw me for the first time not so far away. Then he turned around, smiles from ear to ear, from both of us.

My dad gave me to Justin and I had arranged for Kelly’s future step son to play a song on the guitar “My Last Name”- the song he proposed with- as a surprise for justin. I whispered under my breath to Justin “glad you could make it” cheesy smile- and he said “what, you’re the one that’s late!” lol, we both cracked up. The rest of the ceremony really is kind of a blur. I remember the preacher man was VERY good though. I liked all the things he said and the ceremony was beautiful. And at the end of the day justin got his wish “ he didn’t care where we got married, just that we got married” and we did. 6 months ago today. 

Love you baby.
